Raja's Seat in Madikeri ,Coorg
Raja's Seat literally means the Seat of the King, is a pavilion set inside a garden in the middle of the town. While this structure has significant importance in the legacy of Coorg, the charming part is the ambient in which the seat is located.
The garden overlooks a valley, beyond which you have a splendid view of the rolling hills and mountain ranges.
Sun set view from here, popularly called the Madikeri Sunset View is quite another attraction itself. According to the lore, the erstwhile kings of Coorg accompanied by heir queens used this garden to watch the sunset over the rolling mountain ranges.
The garden also has a toy train.
Raja's Seat is about 1km from the private and KSRTC bus stands. Head towards the Town Hall on the main road and take a diversion that goes uphill. From the KSTDC Mayura and Club Mahindra Kodagu Valley , its a short walk. If you are traveling by car, you may find it difficult to find a parking space outside the garden, esp. in peak time for the sunset view.
