To reach Coorg you are likely to use one of those public transports, operated by Karnataka and Kerala transport corporations. Or would be using a private car or hired cab. Details of the road routes are discussed further below.

If you are travelling from long distances, the airports for Coorg are Bangalore (BLR , Kempegowda International Airport), Mysore (MYS) , Kozhikode (CCJ, Calicut International Airport) or Mangalore (IXE). The closer ones are Mysore and Mangalore airports, though the better connected is the Bangalore airport with other cities.

If you are planing to travel by train to Coorg, the nearest railway station for Coorg is Mysore(MYS), 120km away. Here again, you'll find better long distance train connectivity with Bangalore City Jn (SBC) which is about 250km from Coorg.

Traveling to Mysore to Coorg :

There are frequent KSRTC bus services between Mysore and Madikeri and Virajpet. The road distance from Mysore to Madikeri is about 120km. Mysore to Virajper distance is about 100km. Checkout Mysore to Coorg for road route and bus timings.

Traveling from Bangalore to Coorg :

There are quite a few number of KSRTC buses operate from Bangalore to Madikeri. Also you'll find some services to other towns in Coorg like Somwarpet and Virajpet.

Another alternative is to travel to Mysore from Bangalore by bus or train, and further travel to Coorg by road.

Traveling Kerala to Coorg:

There are three major road routes connects Coorg with Kerala.
Madikeri is connected to Kasargod via Sullia. This is a curvy but drivable road. Kasargod to Madikeri road distance is about 110km.

The second route from Madikeri to Kerala is via Bhagamandala and Panathur . You'll cross the Greater Talacauvery National park on the way. This is a narrow curvy road most of the part, but a very scenic route.

The road distance from Kasargod to Madikeri via Panathur is about 110km. Though its same distance as the road via Sullia, the road route via Panathur takes longer.

The third major route from Kerala to Coorg is via Iritti. This route connects southern towns of Coorg like Virajpet, Gonikopal , Ponnampet etc with north Kerala towns like Kannur and Talassery. Iritti to Virajpet distance is about 40km. The route is pretty bumpy esp. on the Karnataka side close to the state boarder.

A fourth road is the Gonikoppal to Mananthavady route via Kutta. This connects Coorg with Wayanad, two immensely popular vacation destinations saddling the Western Ghats. Mananthavady to Gonikoppal distance is about 65km.
